Primary Uses

The UPMC Brain Mapping Center is an entity focused on clinical and research applications of MEG. It is envisioned as a self-sustained module that “fits and feeds” the UPMC system: a resource center that provides a logistical framework for all clinical applications of MEG as well as the widest spectrum of research applications, from basic and applied research to clinical research.

The three primary directives of the UPMC Brain Mapping Center are:

Enhance pre-surgical planning by non-invasively localizing eloquent areas within the brain,
Enhance localization of epileptic seizure foci by mapping sources of spiking activity, and
Research distributions of brain activity related to cognitive function.
